Please post a speed feedback sign at various places along Harbor Bay Parkway. Cars travel very fast here -- in part because of the very flat, straight and wide roadway. Along with numerous office parks along this area there is also an elementary school, pre-school, middle school and two or three churches. A speed feedback sign would be welcome. Also would be beneficial to increase police presence to enforce the posted speed limits.
Long term solutions to slow travel speeds is to rebuild Harbor Bay Parkway with 11-foot lanes, broad horizontal curves and modern roundabouts at each intersection to discourage high speeding traffic.

Requests for many transportation issues, including stop signs, curb painting, and traffic calming measures, typically require 8-12 weeks to complete before staff can develop a recommendation. These requests involve review of current plans and policies, compilation of accident and/or other history, coordinating with Alameda Police and other stakeholders, outreach to residents or others who may be affected by the proposed change, on-site data collection and analysis, and sometimes consultation with outside experts.
I will follow up with you about your request when your request is at the top of the queue. Unfortunately, due to limited funding, there is a backlog of these requests and they are being handled in the order of receipt. Due to that backlog, some requests may take six months to a year to complete the analysis and recommendation.

Thank you for submitting your concern regarding speeding. Apologies for the late reply.
In 2018/2019, we were able to use the resurfacing project on Harbor Bay Parkway, between Bay Edge Road and the intersection of N Loop/S Loop, to restripe the lane lines in order to make the lanes closer to the medians narrower.
Although not directly related to a speed improvement, we are currently working on installing traffic signals at the intersections of N Loop/S Loop and Penumbra/S Loop. The traffic signals are expected to be installed by the end of August.
In the months thereafter, we will be restriping the pavement markings between Penumbra/S Loop to Maitland. Unfortunately, these will be restriped at their current locations as the project is related to crack sealing, which is simply applying a type of sealant over the roadway cracks.
This is unlike other roadway resurfacing/rehabilitation projects, where we are removing the top later of the road, which provides us with a blank slate to make changes in the striping. If we were to change the striping for a crack seal project, we would have to grind off the existing striping in order to relocate it. The grinding would cause scarring and exposure of the roadway surface, and is not ideal for the pavement.
Please keep in mind that we plan to continue with the lane narrowing with future roadway resurfacing projects where/when pertinent.
