  I concur! I have lived here 21 years, and it is a miracle that no schoolkid has been killed.

  I've always thought that this intersection would be a perfect spot for a roundabout intersection. Someone recently did a sideshow here, and helpfully left behind tiretracks to show where it might go, LOL.

  How about traffic cameras that take pics when cars/drivers don't come to a full stop (or participate in sideshows). Could pay for itself pretty quickly given the percentage that *don't* stop. > 90%.

  Well, turns out that stop sign cameras are not allowed under the state's vehicle code in most of CA, so that preventative measure / revenue stream is out.

  Crosswalk lights that only flash when activated could help; the lights are on signage as well as embedded in the pavement. There are some installed on Moraga Ave near the Montclair Rec Center; they seem to get drivers' attention.

  This is a dangerous crosswalk because many cars do not stop at this stop sign. I think blinking lights would help.

  Drivers regularly speed on Broadway Terrace - the speed limit is 25mph and daily I clock folks traveling 40-50mph. I also often see drivers run the stop sign at Broadway Terrace and Hermosa. I wonder how much revenue OPD could generate in 1 day of enforcement..

  This intersection is terrible. It's so wide and the cars don't slow down. With kids going to school, it's very dangerous. Please do something

  In the 1980’s, a woman was killed in the crosswalk by the Village Market by a motorist driving down Broadway Terrace. Afterwards, the City increased the size of the STOP sign at that location. Given the number of kids that cross to school everyday, more needs to be done to keep them safe.

  at one time there was a crossing guard during school arrival/departure hours, I believe. Defnitely recommend pedestrian-triggered yellow caution lights - AND fierce speed limit and stop-sign-ignoring enforcement by OPD on a regular basis. This would indeed pay great dividends financially and safety wise.

  My son, my dog and I have almost been struck several times by cars while attempting to walk my son to school. During a certain time of year, the sun blinds drivers coming up Broadway Terrace. This intersection really needs help to reduce the chances that someone is killed here.

  I believe a crossing guard was killed here in the past. The morning sun was in the driver's eyes and the driver didn't see the guard. That was when the intersection actually had a crossing guard. Children walking to school are even less visible than an adult.

  Has there been any progress on this? Nothing has changed and if anything this intersection has grown worse with cars routinely rolling through the stop and rarely yielding to pedestrians. Seems like an easy fix to add some flashing lights that can be controlled by the person crossing the street (like near Montclair park and other locations around the city). Thanks!

  I agree. This remains a very dangerous intersection. There is a school nearby, so lots of students and families have to navigate this intersection every day. Flashing lights are a good idea.
