Deskripsyon

This "camp" has been growing over the past year. On the other side of the fence is Wilson Middle School, across the street is Altura Prepratort School and on the other corner is Holy Ghost Catholic School. The children are yelled at by homeless drug users who now LIVE at Wilson Park. One child at one of these schools was pricked by a dropped heroine needle on the playground. Now this child has to do quarterly blood tests. Janitors have to rake the sand at the playground every morning for needles. There has to be a police presence. If the city can not maintain the park it should be sold. Something bad has already happened and I am sure something worse will be on the horizon.

I have file reports as well. I have also emailed the mayor. I see nothing being done. Do the homeless simply own this park now? Ridiculous!

This need stop be taken care of permanently. Even if it means closing the park and fencing it off.

I agree. How do we make this happen? On the first day of school APD had six units at the park moving people away. As soon as the last cruiser left the park the carts came out from behind the pool. This land needs to be part of the school if the homeless won't move.

It doesn't help that local charities draw people to this park with the free things they offer. They're counter acting APD efforts!

That is what neighborhood watch groups are for.There is power in bumbers do we need get the residents of this area together and force change. You know we supposedly still leave in a democratic republic. We have the right to speak up and take action. AND pressure the City Council to pass a law stating that he feeding of transients to be illegal in places other than designated centers that must be established entries like Good Shepherd Manor on 2ns St. The amount of havoc they cause is unmeasurable. And not to mention the crime, trash digging, and the like.

I reached out to the charity who has "adopted" this park. They made it clear they weren't interested in working with me to move the homeless.

Well if more of us call then they have to so something or we can petition the City Council to pass a law stating that they cannot be fed on city property and only in permanent dwellings.

Sadly the CoA has allowed the homeless to take over many of our city parks. A trip to Los Altos park and many others proves that. Disgusting!

I totally agree Ashlie. The attitude of the homeless is awful. Take mental illness mixed with frustration mixed with instability equals a seriously explosive situation or situations? Do we wait until one of the students of Wilson is kidnapped or killed...I don't even like putting that energy out there. It's just the mix and it's horrible!

They are NOT the City of Albuquerque...WE are...so maybe this is a lesson in exercising your democratic republic rights? We need to learn to once again become pro-active rather than re-active.

Well if you look above you will see that the 311 assigned this to the City Planning Department. They have no legal jurisdiction to remove or arrest....hummmm.....what gives?
