Malden's infrastructure is crumbling. It is a city-wide problem. What you see in your neighborhood is duplicated in mine and in dozens of others all over the city. It is the result of long-deferred maintenance occassioned by years of mismanagement and waste of city (taxpayer) funds. Until this city takes the advice of its own auditors and gets its financial controls in order, nothing will change. Ultimately, blame rests squarely at the feet of our mayor, who fooled many of us by claiming to be a reformer who would promote transparency and accountability, but who has done exactly the opposite. The conditions of our streets are a direct result, and should serve as a constant reminder, of his failed tenure.

You comment on everything here. This is not a political forum for you to bash the Mayor. Why don’t you stick to your so called “Lawyer” skills. If that’s what you really are. I happen to like the Mayor. Go to meetings at City Hall and voice your opinion in person instead of doing your political bashing on here. If it’s not the Mayor, it’s the Police Dept. I see you bashing every City Dept. on here. You never stop. And yes I am anonymous. But you are too. Ghazi... whatever that stands for.

I get it. You like the mayor. That's an opinion you are entirely entitled to have. You also want to silence his critics. But guess what? It's not going to happen. Contrary to your erroneous assertion, this is a public forum in which comments that are political are not only acceptable, they are actually constitutionally protected. A pothole on its own, for example, may well be just a pothole. But when you have a whole bunch of potholes, they pretty quickly become a political issue. And boy do we have a lot of potholes (among a myriad of other problems). Beyond that, I'm using the platform exactly as even SCF's own marketing materials say it should be used:

BTW, I'd love to be able to speak at a council meeting. Lots of residents would like to. But as you know, they won't let us.

All over this city, people are fed up. You would probably do better to counsel your friend the mayor to address the concerns of his constituents and to deliver on his long overdue promises of transparency and accountability. I voted for him -- twice BTW. But never again. He has not delivered. Nothing has changed. The scandals repeat. Just the names change.

As for me, I'm not going anywhere. That's my first name BTW. I'm not hard to find. I'm not afraid to put my name to every single word that has ever passed my lips. I stand behind everything I say. I'm not afraid to speak the truth. I don't hide. Anytime that you want to have a respectful discussion (without the ad hominem insults) about how our city is being run and how our money is being spent, just let me know. I'd be more than happy to oblige.

This forum here allows people like you to slam the City. It allows people to rat out their neighbors. If someone parks on the street without a permit, boom they put it on here and the parking director sends someone to ticket them. If you don’t like your neighbor and his grass is a little long. Boom you call it in for overgrowth issue. This is a forum of ratting on your neighbors. So much wrong about this forum. It stinks.

Then don't use it. No one is "ratting" on their neighbors here because their grass is too long (and incidentally, I have never done that). The post was about road conditions. If a discussion of the deplorable conditions of Malden's roads is something in which you don't want to participate, then don't. If you have a contrary opinion, by all means, express it if you choose. It's a public forum. That's what it's for. That's your right (one which I would zealously defend by the way, even if I disagree with you). But what you can't do is to harrass and bully people for expressing opinions that you don't share. That's not how a democracy -- or this platform -- works.

Just received my $1,600 real estate tax and am wondering what am I paying for. This street has been potholed and patched for 20 years as long as I have lived here and NOT FIXED. This is ridiculous and this needs to be fixed

Given the amount I pay for real estate taxes for the privilege of living in Malden, I expect to live on street that is not full of potholes and patch work. This is not something over a couple of years, it's been TWENTY years that this street has been like this. This should be fixed NOW

Instead of fixing ONLY the potholes, which will reappear after the next plowing, you should tear up the entire street and fix it properly. I have lived here for 20 years and it is still a pothole haven and a mess. Why can you not fix this one little street with the amount of taxes you receive from homeowners? TWENTY YEARS and we see this street still in the worst shape

Fixing potholes with tar over and over is ineffective.at taxpayers expense. Just tear up the street and fix the problem the right way. You charge enough taxes to live here. We should be able o drive on safe streets

FIX THESE STREETS It is not acceptable to PATCH them. From Salem St to Broadway and the streets in between there are so many holes and patches that do nothing but come apart. WITH the money we pay in RE TAXES we should have streets that are driveable without causing damage to our cars. Fairfield Ave has been like this for TWENTY 20 YEARS since I have lived here. ENOUGH ALREADY FIX THESE STREETS...WHAT WHAT WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH OUR TAX MONEY....Guess what IT IS NOT FIXING OUR STREETS.Leave this open until we get what we deserve DRIVEABLE STREETS.
