  I agree with this post. Need more traffic enforcement on speeding cars and motorcycles around Malden. People are always flying up Walnut and Cross street. Like the original poster noted, there is barely any traffic enforcement presence.

  I’m all for more police traffic enforcement . But how many police officers do you think Malden has. I’m happy that the police have made an impact on the crime here. Does everyone forget about how many violent crimes we’ve had in years past? Not that speeders aren’t important but I would think we only have so many officers Regardless I think we shouldn’t be appreciative.

  I totally agree. Cross St at Henry, Ferry, Bryant and further, it’s a damned racetrack out there. The guy across the street was hit some months back and it was very bad . Motorcycles flying too!! Even on Henry St. What about the kids????

  This is not a question of the abilities of the first responders in our city. It is an attempt at saving an accident from happening. There is a playground right around the corner with a pathway to this street. Children ride bicycles and skate boards all day. It only takes one mistake to ruin a life. The fact is i am glad we have those great first responders because when a kid comes racing out of the park and that person flying in a two thousand pound car cant stop and hits the kid we are going ro need them.

  I would LOVE to see more traffic enforcement. This town has become incredibly dangerous to navigate as a pedestrian and as a driver because there is no incentive for the reckless drivers to follow the laws. Every week I see people zooming down one way streets the wrong way, failing to stop at stop signs, speeding dangerously fast, etc. Every traffic stop is also a chance to see if the driver has outstanding warrants, an invalid license, etc and perhaps to get someone off the streets who shouldn't be out driving anyway.

  I have sat on my porch and even heard the vehicles curse and threaten the crossing guard. They flyby school buses that are signaling to stop and the don’t care. This really needs to be addressed!!!!

  The detail is paid by National Grid. I respect your opinion but this is a matter of safety not pointing blame at others. If you have or take issue with the detailed police officer please address that on a different platform or agenda.

  It truly is a 24 hr a day issue but you see it mainly in the afternoon and mornings as people are using it as a cut through for work and home

  Malden issues between 1/4 and 1/2 the number of citations of its similarly sized neighbors, to include Medford, Somerville, Everett, and Chelsea. Even the city's own auditors have criticized the city's traffic enforcement practices. If a town the size of Medford can issue literally FOUR TIMES the number of citations as Malden, we ought to be able to find the manpower. The habits of many motorists on our roadways, and the dangerous situations that they create, are a direct result of the lack of enforcement by our police department. As far as violent crime is concerned, it's at an historic low basically everywhere. So it's not an excuse. And in any event, motor vehicle stops are one of the most effective ways to combat all crime across the board, including violent crime. They lead to arrests on warrants, arrests of drivers whose licenses have been suspended for commission of motor vehicle offenses, and the discovery of illegal drugs and weapons. So de-prioritizing traffic enforcement is not only ineffective as a means to combat crime, it's completely counterproductive.

  SCF really has to fix its filters. You basically can't use any of the totally innocuous terms necessary to have a meaningful conversation about safety-related isssues. In fact, I learned earlier today that you can't even use a particular verb that happens to be identical the name of the President. It's absolutely ridiculous.

  It was great to see the officer out today. I think he was able to inform at least 5 different people about our stop signs. He sais he would be back to help again.

  This is great to hear. Want to reiterate that we do appreciate our police department. However, everyone is human, even the police, and cannot know when and where all these issues are popping up. That's why it's on us as residents of the town to help point out these things so the police can effectively address the situation.

  With that said, can we get this traffic enforcement presence around the Ferry way school - Cross St, Walnut St, Ferry st etc... Please? As Stephen says motorists do not respect the rules of the roads around these parts. I once saw a motorist actually pull over and get out of his vehicle to confront a pedestrian crossing the street at Ferry and Cross st. because that made him slow down at a red light before he took a right turn.

  As far as when these situations occur I'd say is pretty much throughout the day but more so during the morning traffic rush for cars. Motorcycles seem to race around during evening hours Friday - Sunday. Any help on this is appreciated coming from a father of two young girls who live in the area.

  I hate to say it but i just watched the ambulance take a person who was hit on the corner or Henry and Boylston. I have been saying it was going to happen. Sporadic enforcement is not the answer no stop light no painted lines nothing. Thebonly good thing is that it was a grown man and not a child
