There is a significant outbreak of gypsy moths on the NE side of Ann Arbor. These trees may look sick and diseased, however if indeed they have been ravaged by the moths, they may bounce back.

Staff looked at these trees. While there are some dead branches that need to be removed, most of these trees are Crabapples, which are notorious for losing leaves early in the Fall. There is also a dead scotch pine that needs to be removed. City staff will be out later in the fall or winter to address these issue. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.

Thank you for looking at the trees. They have been struggling for the last few years - ever since we had that one really hard winter (about 3 or 4 winters past). Keep on eye on them (both sides of the sidewalk). There may be some early leaf fall but my hunch is that its more than that. Thanks!
