Not sure if this is the same as the original issue, but the timing of the lights at 4 St NW and Mass Ave NW is horrible and consistently creates traffic jams. Cars coming west on H St NW consistently end up stranded in Mass Ave, blocking busy morning traffic. The 4th St light is green while the Mass Ave light is red - once the Mass ave light turns green, cars start going across the intersection but then the 4th St light quickly turns green. There is limited space on H st between Mass & 4, so cars are inevitably stranded in the Mass Ave intersection. If the timing between the two lights on H St – 4th and Mass – was synchronized, this problem could be alleviated.

The issue has not been resolved and therefore I'm confused as to why it is "closed". Currently it is 3 pm and traffic is backed up on H St. all the way to North Capitol St. It takes approximately 10-15 minutes to travel three blocks on H St.

I work at 800 N Capitol and there is a serious issue with the lights at N Cap and H st and down H at Mass. The entire box gets back up during rush hours. It takes many cycles to move down H street and somedays you can hardly get out of the parking garages. There is no way an emergency vehilce can get through.

If anyone from DC 311 actually reads this, could you please provide an update on WHAT has been done to resolve and close the issue? The timing for the lights has clearly not been changed. Has this issue been investigated and it was decided that changing the light timing was not possible? That would not be great and wouldn't resolve the issue, but it would at least be an explanation.

I live off of H street and can say that this honestly reduces the quality of life of living in this area. it makes no sense. the lights are horribly timed even at off-peak hours of the day, and you have to wait significant amounts of time to move down H street towards Mass Ave and 395. this issue is NOT closed.

to add to what I said above... it would be great to at least get an explanation. for example, if there is someone who works for the city who is responsible for analyzing traffic flow and has determined that lengthening that light would somehow lead to more chaos than there is now, I am willing to listen. maybe there is a rational explanation. but right now I don't see, I just see MISERY
I totally agree with Nathan. This site seems totally useless because we are promised emails regarding the situation and instead we get is...The issue is closed. The only thing that seems to be closed is the mindset of the D.C. Government. Go ahead close it again without any resolution. It seems to be what DC does best

It's Sunday, I'm trying to get out of the city for Mother's Day, there is NO traffic anywhere in dc or on 395, except for right here where I'm currently on my 6th cycle of this light and have been waiting for almost 15min. IT MAKES NO SENSE. I work at a help desk and I know that SOMEONE is reading this. This issue is so far from being "closed"

Go ahead and ignore this comment about traffic backing up because of the light. Why do we waste our time expecting the D.C. Government to care. Time to close this issue resolved again.
