Description
This is the school bus route (and should be the parent pick up route) to Donelson Hills Elementary. North of Elizabeth Lake Rd., Voorheis and Wewoka are in DIRE need of repair.
Filling the 100+ potholes in this short stretch is NOT effective, and is a waste of time and money.
It is not right that the walking route (Otsego) does not have a sidewalk and the CHILDREN MUST DODGE SPEEDING CARS! Cars exiting the school use Otsego Rd. due to the roads conditions on Voorheis and Wewoka.
* THIS IS A SEVERE SAFETY HAZARD *

Babs:
That sectionof Voorheis is a sublocal road (subdivision street). Road Commission policy requires that if residents want their subdivision street repaved, they must pay for it through a special assessment district. If you would like to pursue a special assessment district, please contact the Road Commission's Subdivision Improvement and Development Division at (248) 645-2000, ext. 2270. In the mean time, we will continue to do our best to patch the potholes.
The reason for this policy is that the Road Commission does not receive enough revenue to pay for the resurfacing of the 1,200 or so miles of subdivision roads under its jurisdiction. Nor do we receive any additional revenue because a school district chose to build a school on or near a subdivision road.
