Meters and box payments have been tried in the past. They have not paid their way then, why should we expect to have them pay now. It's one thing if the income meets the cost - it's another when the cost has to be borne by the taxpayers of the community.

How much did it cost the Borough (taxpayers) to have these up-to-date tech systems installed?

Will the cost ever match the income before the system becomes outdated?

Is this just another 'white elephant' that will just end in a tax increase for the residents?

What, this is already causing local businesses to block there parking lots. This POS system needs to go right away before it kills phoenixville. Who ever let these people in need to get voted out right away.

I can't believe any public official let this happen. Phoenixville was doing so well until this happened. I feel so bad for the new owner of Steel City Cafe. He's just getting started and Phoenixville is doing this type of damage already.

well the revitilization of phoenixville was nice while it lasted. Too bad they did this to end it. I feel bad for anyone who owns a house there. Kiss your equity goodbye. Really sell now and sell fast. Get out while you can.

What a way for Phoenixville to show it dose not care about residents or businesses. It's very clear now the leadership is corrupt and only wants to gain income for themselves any way they can. Why would they care if it hurts the community or local business.

They need to egt the Democrats out of power in Phoenixville. Thats the real issue here.

I agree the taxing being allowed by the Democrats in Phoenixville is insane. This parking system is just a new tax that hurts local business and residents.

They really need to do away with this new parking system. There ripping off residents and hurting business. All criminals should go into goverment, it's the only way to steal leagally.

I've been out of the area for many years and was pleasantly surprised to see the changes in downtown Phoenixville. I have to admit that I've been turned off by the parking meters and have made the choice to go elsewhere twice in the last week because of the extra cost of parking. Money is tight and I really don't want to pay $1 an hour to go shopping. I feel sorry for the business owners who will have customers choose to go where they can park for free. It's not like we're getting valet parking and added convenience; it's still the same old parking lots or on-street parking. If they need to charge for parking at least make it a sensible rate; a dollar an hour is just plain crazy in this economy.

We quit going to farmers market for this reason - $15 once was enough. Also have cut our visits to resturants downtown by over half, who needs the extra cost and hassle for a lunch.

I have skipped many visits to steel city now due to no street parking. If I just want a cup of coffee i'm not paying parking to get it. What a joke. I guess soon Phoneixville will be a dump just like Pottstown,

Phoenixville just dose not have the draw yet to support a paid parking system. There getting greedy ahead of themselves. They need to eliminate the parking costs until the community is more built up. From what I can tell even resturants are getting less customers.

Then again why would Phoenixville care about there business community. They will simply find out the hard way they needed business more than business needs them.

hahahaha. the lots are sooo empty during the day, i can't imagine they will ever make the money to pay for the meters, let alone the peoples' wages to enforce and the labor costs to install the system. and it seems the roads are always more congested with people trying find somewhere to park.

They should be thining about the residents not just the shoppers going into town. My dad lives near steel city cofee shop adn has to park all the way down near the dollar store. Its not right that he has to park all the way down there. My friend lives down town near there and has three small children adn one is a newborn adn she has to walk two blocks to park now. Its not right we need to fix this. Its not fair to us, we are the residents of this town and we are the ones being hurt not helped.

How about the displays on those boxes? Can't read them in the sunlight since they face south. Good planning. And credit cards?
Forget it. They go in too far - it's hard to pull them out without a thin nosed pliers. And half the time they don't work any way.
What we need is a BIG parking lot outside of town with a FREE shuttle bus running every 10 minutes from the lot to places down town.
