County allows this property to continue renting by the week, quickly "archiving" valid complaints about this illegal rental all the while leaving frivolous neighboring issues pending. 604 Avenida de Mayo is supposed to be a single family home with 30 day minimum lease.

RSF on barrio island should require a permit… Meaning: This would strengthen code enforcements ability to enforce as an owner would have to provide a copy of say Air bnb’s owner’s terms and condition to operate within Fed, State and Local laws.sign/agree to county “terms & conditions” AND signature = official delivery of our code prior to being issued County "$1.00" permit i.e. "RMF dwelling on Barrier Islands allows for short-term rentals for periods of less than 30 days. Rental of RSF dwelling may not. ‘Must be rented as a whole and for periods of greater than 30 days provided that a dwelling unit shall not be rented more than once every 30 days. These are regulated separately in the Use Table in Section 5.1’ –
In general this is a concern on many levels.
Bringing transient renters into RSF neighborhood is morally wrong. Some residences are retired, some work and we even have single mothers,,, Transient rental next door to a resident is not conducive. Resident has rights/hold the right to quiet enjoyment and illegal rentals can destroy the meaning of a "neighborhood" They also stress emergence services as well as waste management and YES they do steal from LEGAL rentals.
RMF not only cost 40% more = Taxes collected are based on value = those owners more taxes, RMF undercut the legal ones..
RMF Properties contribute to our community by collecting and pay taxes ie contribute funds to community needs..
Illegal rentals steal demand from RMF. Meaning, it's not only illegal, it is morally and literally wrong.. It is stealing revenue, stealing from employees and horribly stealing neighborhood values.
If one wants to operate a vacation rental.. Great, Then purchase one, otherwise not entitled .
Residences & neighborhoods hold Property rights to quiet enjoyment, transient certainly can take these rights away and GC & RMF Property owners hold the right for legal rentals.. I don't know all however it is ease to see that Destroying neighborhood values and stealing business from others illegally is not only illegal, it certainly is morally wrong. Personally generate 7 figures to this community in taxes.. Illegal rentals hurt business = SRQ residences are also staff members/employees. Illegal rentals takes from families hard working families in this community. Have 4 dozen employees that are SRQ residences, 100% takes from them.
One would think if an owner is illegally renting they feel entitled to operate above the law, lawless.. (?) Do illegal rentals go against AirBnB policies? ie Is there anything in the owner Air bnb terms & conditions that prohibits such behavior? Tip: Airbnb owner terms & Conditions and SRQ permits required for RSF is a good path to take.
