I support this 100%. Not sure why this stretch of road had parking allowed in the first place, since it just tends to be daily free parking for all the employees of Dealer.com

Paving looks like it is going great! Would love some sweet bike lane markings next since Dealer.com has obviously been able to find other employee parking. What are our chances of making this happen?

YES! Has been over 6 months and Dealer.com has managed just fine. Please mark like the section of Flynn to Lakeside!

I agree. Better biking infrastructure needed here. Please remove the parking. If they didn't need it for 6 months they don't need it.

Or, crazy thought, widen the sidewalks, put the bike lane there and make biking in the streets illegal. No more car/bike incidents!

Hey, if the city wants to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to build off street protected bike lanes, I'm all for it... in the meantime some paint would probably be cheaper & easier.

It looks like this thread is moot. Dealer has resumed parking in that space, and Pine street is now once again a deathtrap. Any comment from DPW on why?

Providing well planned, well constructed infrastructure, including safer options for walking and biking is a priority of ours. In fact, this year we've added 4.42 miles of new bikeways, and a 19% increase in bike lane miles. We have also installed 11 curb extensions to provide a safer pedestrian experience. At the same time, we are on our way to paving over 6 miles of roads. The Champlain Parkway, set to begin construction in 2019 and already funded, will construct 1.5 miles of new shared-use path in the South End - from the border of South Burlington to Pine & Kilburn where new buffered bike lanes will connect to downtown on Pine St up to Maple St. On-street parking will remain near Howard Street to support small local south end businesses, including those for whom time-restricted parking was recently installed to create parking turnover for their visitors.

@DPW Planning, Curious if you can provide background data for those stats. "4.42 miles of new bikeways, and a 19% increase in bike lane miles."
