Thank you for increasing vehicle detection to the maximum. But both the 2015 bikeways plan and the Complete Streets Ordinance call for bicycle detection at intersections like this.

In addition, your recommendation that riders use pedestrian buttons is in conflict with the city's bikeways plan, R-2015-045, approved in 2015: "Requiring cyclists to dismount to press a pedestrian button requires the cyclist to merge into traffic at an intersection. It is particularly important to provide bicycle actuation in a left-turn-only lane where cyclists regularly make left turn movements." That is the case in this intersection, where cyclists are turning left from Constitution to Girard, both of which are heavily used designated bicycle routes. Requiring cyclists to use the pedestrian button puts them in the wrong lane and forces them to cut across a lane of through traffic to complete their left-turn movement. This is not only inconvenient, but dangerous.

The intersection of Constitution and Girard connects two streets with bike lanes. As such, it simply MUST have "bicycle detection" in all directions, per the Complete Streets Ordinance quoted above this thread. Failure to fix this situation is in violation.

This is a continuing problem - intersections that don't meet the Bikeways Plan and Complete Street ordinance requirement for bicycle detection.
