Description
The construction project on 43rd street is a safety hazard. Incomplete layering of the asphalt has left manholes exposed. Vehicles in the right hand lane actively avoid these obstacles by swerving into the bike lane. I almost was hit several times riding my bicycle in the bike lane by cars taking that space. Until the project is complete, either the bike lane or the right lane should probably be closed before someone gets killed.

"Thank you for bringing your concern to the County. The contractor has been directed to install and maintain wedges to ease the transition of manhole covers and water valve covers per Florida Department of Transportation standards. In addition to the wedges around the manhole covers, proper maintenance of traffic signage is in place to warn drivers they are entering a construction zone. With these measures in place, there is not a need to restrict bicyclist from utilizing the designated bicycle lane".
