  I wholeheartedly agree. So many cars and motorcycles race down this block. It would really help to have speed bumps!! We have so many children and pets. We need the city to help!

  Thank you for your request to improve the safety and efficiency of Alameda’s transportation system.
  
  Requests for many transportation issues, including stop signs, curb painting, and traffic calming measures, typically require 8-12 weeks to complete before staff can develop a recommendation. These requests involve review of current plans and policies, compilation of accident and/or other history, coordinating with Alameda Police and other stakeholders, outreach to residents or others who may be affected by the proposed change, on-site data collection and analysis, and sometimes consultation with outside experts.
  
  I will follow up with you about your request when your request is at the top of the queue. Unfortunately, due to limited funding, there is a backlog of these requests and they are being handled in the order of receipt. Due to that backlog, some requests may take six months to a year to complete the analysis and recommendation.

  Thank you for your response. I hope that officers can at least patrol our street for a day or 2 to see how fast these cars are going. It's ridiculous.

  The City of Alameda Public Works Department has reviewed your speeding concern. For this review, we collected speed data and determined the 85th percentile speed. This metric is the speed that 85% of vehicles are traveling at or below. It is used by engineers for establishing the speed limit and by police officers for enforcement. The 85th percentile speed on Park Avenue is comparable to residential streets in Alameda. Although we do not deny that there are individuals who are speeding, the proper way to address them is with enforcement. We are reassigning this case to PD so that they may enforce moving violations in this area.

  In regards to your request for an RRFB at San Jose and Broadway, this intersection is part of State Route 61 and belongs to Caltrans. It is our understanding that they are planning to install an RRFB at this intersection. We do not have any additional information at this time.
