How about a flashing left turn signal. It's only 2 lanes coming from the other direction and as long as people use common sense and good judgement, it would make sense to have the left turn lane signal flashing yellow and yield to oncoming traffic (especially at night with no traffic at all)
This works well at other intersections in Pinellas county. Some are even three lanes of traffic with no issues.....
