The only remedy is to reconstruct both the Waterville and East street crossings in a manner that supports both vehicle and railroad traffic.

My automobile suspension does NOT think this remedied.

The holes are reopning, also the "pads" on the sides of the rails are buckling and rising above the street level. I agree with Mackin that the intersection at both Waterville and East need a full repair job, and not just a patch job to fix the issue. Maybe someone from Grafton DPW, MADOT and G&URR can actually go and look at it and make appropriate recommendations to the parties resposible for the intersection and the railroad crossing. With winter now commencing this crossing will only get worse before it gets better.

Cars still maneuver in a vain attempt to find a level way to cross these tracks and fail miserably.

Thank you for reporting this issue. The GURR is currently designing and working with the Town and MassDOT to redesign the entire intersection at Waterville and 140. They intend to begin work this summer.

This issue needs an immediate temporary solution, waiting on GURR to reconstruct/design the intersection will not solve the current pothole problems occuring daily. Please actually go out to the location and look at it rather than constantly saying its being worked on and closing this thread. I will continue to report this issue until something is done to remedy the issues even if only temporary.

I completely agree - please get the highway department to fix this - we can't wait for a redesign.

When will we find out details of the redesign? Also will this be put to the voters to approve?

Good afternoon. GURR was before the Traffic Safety Committee on January 9, 2019 at a publicly posted meeting to present and discuss the redesign of the intersection. On January 22, 2019, the Traffic Safety Committee attended the Board of Selectmen meeting to discuss this matter as well as others considered by the committee. The railroad is planning to invest approximately $1 million this summer on this intersection. When the railroad attends the Selectmen's meeting to review the plans, it will be at a publicly posted meeting. Thank you.

So what is the town going to do with the deteriorating roadway in the mean time, just let the road crumble as the railroad continues to run trains over the intetsection. This obviously shows that the roadway was not built to withstand the current rail traffic they are running over it. The last tine this railroad was this active was the early 1990s and the traffic was maybe a train or two every other day. No we are at multiple crossings per day. The town needs to take up an immediate plan to remedy the CURRENT issues on this intersection, not wait and see what the railroad will do. They said they would "be a good neighbor" Maury's lie detector says "that was a lie". Please actually go to the intersection, look at it, and figure something out now, and stop passing the buck, this is a Grafton road, not railroad property, our taxes pay for the upkeep of these roads and when the town feels they need to pass the buck maybe it's time to reevaluate the town's leadership. There is a town meeting and election coning up, and that TA review published in the Grafton News seems a bit incorrect considering the current financial situation of the town. Maybe the town should have residents on the TA Reveiw Panel and not just the BoS doing the review.

Sorry, about the rant, but summer is going to be too late for that intersection once the spring rains come through New England.

"publicly posted meeting" - publicly posted where, exactly?

PeterB, usually on a bulletin board at the municipal center, maybe in the Grafton News, and if you subscribe to the email notifications from town departments of meeting agendas you would get the "publicly posted" meeting announcements. So if you go to the MC, or get TGN, or have an email subscription you can be publically made aware of what the town is doing at meetings.

photo attached shows the damage to the road surface - Grafton DPW has repaired potholes at this point every year for decades and needs to repair these now without further delay.
