Description
The new crosswalk on the north side of the T-intersection where Madison meets State Street. has created unintended hazards. This is particularly concerning for me, as a blind individual, because I stop at the crosswalk, wait, and, hearing no cars, expect and begin to cross. A problem arises if I am crossing and there are no lights to indicate to cars that a crosswalk exists. I cannot see the cars because I am blind; but, the cars should see me. This situation can be
ameliorated by installing a light (preferably even an accessible/beeping light, like the one at Tappan and South U). Please fix this issue by installing crosswalk lights, and making the
bumps on the walk more tactile to indicate, without doubt, that there is a crosswalk. This would make the area much safer for students and
drivers. Thank you for your time and consideration! P.S.--This website is not the most accessible. I could not submit my
request without sighted assistance from another person, who is submitting this on my behalf.
