Description
E. 18th Street is an unmitigated disaster between 8th Ave. and 4th Ave. Biking this stretch of road -- in either direction -- feels like riding over a gravel driveway. I'm honestly not sure where the potholes end and where the street begins. I've lived in places with far worse winter weather, and far lower taxes, and this is probably the single worst stretch of urban pavement I have ever traversed. It's even more tooth-rattling than the 18th Century cobblestones in Washington, DC. Please do something, soon! It's been like this for the seven years I've lived here, and it's only getting worse.

E 18th is on the current Oakland paving plan to be resurfaced in 2019, between 4th Ave and 14th Ave. See the map online at https://oakbec.s3.amazonaws.com/MapLanding/maps/pavingdashboard.html.
If Prop 6 passes on Tuesday and the state gas tax is reduced then this will remove $5 million from the city's 2019 paving budget, which may or may not strike E 18th from the plan. We'll have to wait and see.
