Description

Likely in an attempt to combat Sacred Heart students from parking on Waller to walk to class the entire street has been made no parking. Is there any flexibility to allow for parking on one side of the street? As a resident this is incredibly frustrating as I no longer have parking for infrequent guests. Perhaps a resident parking pass or the like?

Would like to point out that Mayor Official 3 responded to a complaint this summer about non resident SHU students parking on Waller saying "The City, City Council Members and Sacred Heart University (SHU) officials has been working to address the issues associated with SHU students in Bridgeport’s North End. There will be stricter enforcement of city ordinances that includes parking enforcement this fall." I'm uncertain of what ordinances they planned to enforce, as in Fall 2017 Mayors Office 2 said " In the absence of no parking signs, cars cannot be ticketed. Moreover, if the new school doesn't have adequate off street parking, then it is the responsibility of the University to address this issue. " Unfortunately, it seems that the solution was for the town to remove parking from residents. How is this fair or responsible?

Punishing residents for the behavior of students is unbecoming of both the town and the school. No notice was given to residents which is wrong.

They all park this crazy, make there own parking way on my street and I get the ticket for being the wrong way just to move cars to go to work!

The school needs to stop building buildings and build one huge parking lot, stop letting them live off campus and give the North End our neighborhood back. it's not fair to the tax payers who have lived here for years. all in Bpt why not take over FFld more?

As a student that lives on waller I strongly agree that the school needs to figure out a solution to parking that doesn't involve students who live elsewhere parking on waller. It isn't fair to anyone living here, and it isn't fair of the town to decide to take away parking because of the behavior of nonresidents. There has to be a better solution

This is insane. I own a house on the road and am getting tickets for parking my car in front of my house b/c Sacred Heart FAILED to develop enough parking. Something has to be done ASAP. Issue parking passes for residents to use to park on the street would work. To completely shut down the road to residents is unacceptable. Please find a resolution to this soon.

According to the department of public works the police board voted to close the street to parking. Assuming that was due to the amount of cars parked a residential parking system would be a great solution. Is an official going to respond?

The No Parking signs have created another violation. Now renters/owners just park on the front lawn.

Agreed but what else is there to do when you have company over? At my residence we have been cramming cars into the driveway as tight as possible but most other house do not have that luxury

It might be worth it to call and email the appropriate departments.
This app they could easily ignore, but the other avenues of communication they can't do so easily.

SHU and Fairfield have availed themselves of the student problems and left them to Bridgeport to deal.That's why SHU keeps building in Bridgeport. They don't pay taxes because they are a religious entity. Why do we allow them to take over?

If a vehicle on Waller St has an SHU sticker on it the ticket it and/or tow it. Its not paying taxes to Bridgeport.

Set up no parking signs during class hours and give the street back to the residents.

This should be a red flag to Zoning and the City Council for the proposed dorms on Park Avenue.
Finch constantly squawked about UB but the city lets SHU do walk all over Bridgeport.

They need to find a solution to appease people who live on Waller, resident parking tags seem to be a potential solution or opening up parking on one side of the street. I implore Bridgeport to reach out with a solution they're prepared to implement or at a minimum acknowledge this issue.

I have reported numerous times the speeding on Eckert St and nothing has been done. The students are away and the street has been calm but what will happen, i see they are starting to come back. THAT ROAD IS A NIGHTMARE and now I consider unsafe
