I can see how this may be a problem for someone unfamiliar with the area, but for people who live here, it is a very simple concept. There are even signs to help you with this driving procedure. Going north on Groesbeck, get into the right lane and go past 13 mile to Utica and take a right turn. Then go back south on Utica to 13 mile and take another right turn. Wala! you are driving west on 13 mile. I thought is was stupid too until I actually tried it and the way the lights are timed, it goes VERY quickly. It is no worse than sitting at a left turn light. The reason for the no left turn has something to do with the light timings for the three roads running together. Seriously, the bigger issue for me is why the left turn light goes first on 13 mile at Groesbeck! It keeps traffic from being able to get through on 13 without hitting both lights EVERY time!

The no left turn at 13 is for safety reasons since there are so many businesses nearby and three main roads are intersecting at once. Besides, right turns are soooooo much easier, doncha think?

The Utica / 13 / Groesbeck intersection is already enough of a clusterfack. This is not needed.

This is not needed. Traffic engineers know far better than the person that created this.

HAD YOU LIVED HERE LONG ENOUGH YOU WOULD KNOW THAT THE 13-GROESBECK INTERSECTION WAS A DEATH INTERSECTION. FRIDAYS,SATURDAYS,AND SUNDAYS WERE THE WORST DAYS FOR ACCIDENTS, YOU KNOW HOW EVERYBODY STOPS ON RED RIGHT.
