Nothing continues to be done here. Very disappointing!

This morning, not only were there several cars parked on the bridge during the morning commute, but one minivan owner was actually fishing from his passenger seat, with the door open, fishing poles propped on the railing -- taking up the entire sidewalk (the fishing pier, uncrowded, just below him). I had to dismount from my bike and walk into oncoming traffic to get past him. Can this issue PLEASE be addressed.

People parking on the sidewalk are creating a dangerous situation. Please ticket and tow if necessary.

This has been an issue for many years.

I don't think bicycles are allowed to ride on sidewalks in the City of New Haven. that doesn't excuse the legal parking...... but it seems you're mad at somebody is breaking the law getting in the way of you breaking a law

You are correct, Billy R. Bikes are not allowed on the sidewalks. I rarely ride on sidewalks. However, it has long been documented that this is an extremely dangerous bridge to cross. It is common practice for bikes to cross via the sidewalk because it is much, much safer in this particular case. I think most would agree that this is an acceptable exception. This is a main thoroughfare to get from the East Shore (and other points) to Downtown. I often avoid the bridge but don't think I should have to; we need to include provisions for alternative modes of transportation on all our roads.

Connecticut living...... it says your a verified official. You would know that law better than I. Correct? From what I remember the issue was the railroad tracks. Hasn't that issue been addressed with the new bridge?

This has been an issue for a long time, with many severe injuries documented, some of which directly resulted from the parked vehicles.

I hear you CT, however asking the city to punish someone that is in your way of breaking the law yourself seems kind of silly. I heard some good ideas on the other post, yet it was dormant for 18 months till you reopened it today. Has anyone gone to the state with this issue, or are you waiting for the city to handle it? If you're waiting for this city administration to address this issue, I think you'll die an old man without a bike lane on that bridge.
