HMM How about having the valet's park your car and tell them you're going to pulmonology. There is no check or balance in the system to validate you were being seen ! I got "yelled" at because I didn't pull my car up on the correct side of the street when there last week. Of course it was hard to get the attention of the valets because they were "face in the phone". I know they have two spaces on Morris they can use (there is a curb cut out) and after that the cars are parked elsewhere. I visited another area in the hospital and at least three of the employees there park on the city streets and not in the AMC provided areas ($54/month)

I hope you have written to the Mayor, written to the Park South Neighborhood Assn., contacted the Common Council Member for that Ward, and/or attended a Common Council meeting and raised this issue in person during the public comment period. Sorry, but I don't think see click fix will help you except by providing a public forum and a place where you can vent your frustration. How 'bout this...If it happens to you again, don't walk away, call the police. They know the parking rules better than anyone and would put the Valet Service "in its place. The trick is having the time to wait. Generally they are fairly quick to respond and are nice. I think the Station to call would be the Center Square Station (Madison Ave. by Market 32).

Yes, you should contact those sources, except the current Mayor who's in AMC's pocket (why else do they not pay their PILOTs?), but also include the new APD Chief and the Parking Authority itself. See you at the next Common Council meeting, and I think the area is in Ward 9. I also am starting to agree with your S C F comment. I've also summited issues and still nothing resolved either... I usually go right to the top person, usually the Dept head to get answers, why deal with the lowers??

Valet's are a contracted services to AMCH - I'd report this behavior directly to Jim Barba the president in a note! It might also be one employee who is on a power trip!

Have you noticed that the 'valet' service is from MASS???? Check the plates on the busses. They aren't even local or regional. At least St Peter's hired local people, yet they don't pay any PILOTs!!!

Bad enough these hospitals charge visitors to see their loved ones, but then they take the free spots away from residents? Good luck getting the city to do anything about it. They very rarely follow up on illegal garbage complaints, noise violations, or snow removal in crosswalks... Tough times to be a resident of Albany.

I understand the new APD Chief Eric Hawkins will be at Tuesday's Pine Bush Neighborhood Association 7:00P meeting being held at the Daughters of Sarah community (meeting) room. The address is 180 Washington Av Ext but the building is towards the back on the left. There's a circle road in front of the actual entryway to the room. I'm going!!

Hello, Albany????? This is still a huge problem. Park South residents pay for residential parking that is taken by Albany Med every day. They promised to use only their own parking lots and garages including for the expensive apartments, but that is not the case. We now know they make promises only to get approvals from the neighborhoods and then do whatever damage their entitled selves want, because they know there will be no accountability from the City of Albany. This city also needs to get the tax issue worked out so multi-million dollar businesses are not tax exempt and needs to protect the rights of its tax paying citizens who are habitually steamrolled and negatively impacted by Albany Med's unwillingness to respect that it exists in a neighborhood and they have to learn to share and play nice. They don't own all of the surrounding area, but act as though they do including putting up cemented in traffic signs that directly contradict the city signs including for residential parking. Then, when residents with paid parking permits try to park in residential spots near our heavily taxed homes, the valets aggressively approach our vehicles telling us we are not allowed to park there. Police and parking have said residents have the legal right, but we should not be accosted and threatened by AMC valets or have to call the police to defend our right to park in legal residential spots. Does anyone in City government have the integrity and backbone to finally and permanently stop AMC from doing this? Or is this just one more of the hundreds of issues reported time after time that get ignored? What an inexcusable way to run a city and shame on you Neighborhood Associations and Common Council for not speaking up and demanding this stop long ago. If this was happening in Center Square, it would have been stopped immediately or never allowed in the first place. The parking needs of black and brown people are the same as everyone else and our permits and taxes don't cost less.

I can definitely say that this is still a problem. It is even more of a problem due to the Capital Holiday Light Pollution in the Park that takes many spaces and our green space for 2 months.

This was NEVER dealt with, like so much else. Why is Albany Med allowed to commandeer a city block and residential parking AND install a sign that says valet parking only when this is not true? The city kisses AMC's behind.

I would not complain to Jim Barba - he retired over a year ago.
