"There are two dips in the road (or potholes) on West Howard Ave. on both sides of Drexel Ave, as you travel towards Atlanta. Would you please fill these in so the road surface is level?" This is NOT a duplicate ticket! And I have talked to the county (which you said you were going to inform). 1) The previous ticket referred to a single pothole--you filled a bit of the deepest section and left the rest as is--it is NOT level with the street. 2) There is now a second pothole that needs to be filled level with the street. 3) I talk regularly with the wonderful woman who supervises pothole repair in DeKalb County, and she confirms that pothole repair in the city of Decatur is Decatur's responsibility. 4) The horrible condition of West Howard has severely damaged my car--last repair (just to get car running again) was $1,000+. 5) And I agree with those concerned about safety--I travel the road twice daily at non-peak hours, and am still passed by those who drive into lanes for oncoming traffic in order to speed around me. There was an accident near the Valero about 3 weeks ago, around 6:30-7 p.m. It's a shame that the city of Decatur has so little pride that all the effort is put into finding excuses for doing nothing, rather than addressing issues appropriately. I'm ready to join all those asking for a public meeting.
