I know you may not want to hear this and I’m sorry to bring this to light - but small dogs or cats (anything under 12 lbs) should not be left outside unsupervised . Hawks , especially this time of year , will easily take off with small pets . My neighbor even saw a coyote trotting down the sidewalk in our neighborhood .
