For the past few months, there has been a waste water smell coming from my sump pump pit. It is not all the time. Usually, if there is a lot of ground water, and the pump is going off frequently, it will smell horrible and permeate the entire house. Is there some way to test to see if there is waste water in the ground water leaking into my pit? I've lived in this house for 15 years and have not had this issue except recently this year.
