The HoCo manmade culvert that runs behind homes at Lake Circle West and Durham Road West has become a mosquito infested area. We have been trying to have somebody care enough about diseases mosquitoes carry but the County is not paying attention. I'm looking at it right now and what used to be two or three areas of putrid standing mosquito breeding water (there are not enough mosquito dunks in the world to keep hem from breeding) has now spread even further downstream. The rocks placed by the County years ago have moved due to the rapid running water we've had this year so water pools instead of continuing its path to Wilde Lake. Unless the County wants to be responsible for mosquitoes spreading West Nile virus or worse they need to take the reins and fix this problem before spring arrives. The system wouldn't let me put down an actual address. It kept changing it to Clarksville pike.

The culverts need to be cleared so water runs off and there are no mosquito breeding ponds within the culverts bringing with it West Nile virus threat. When it rains now, regardless of the amount, it’s like many rivers running throughout the neighborhood on not just the streets but throughout back and front yards.
The problem now is not just water and falling trees but a potential health hazard for residents.

Is the county going to at least spray for mosquitoes during the summer since they refuse to help with the problem they created?
BTW this stream runs into Wilde Lake so all the trash that comes down from various streets ends there if neighbors don’t pick it up before it floats away.

NO, it hasn’t been solved. The problem, every time it rains or pours, continues to worsen. The erosion is not going to go away by itself and residents’ properties are in the path.
Concentrating on just heavily affected flood areas and not paying attention downstream where that water continues to run is not the answer. This water also runs into various Columbia lakes.
The County needs to step up. This county birthed the situation back in the 70s of allowing and placing storm drains and pipes on county streets and have these run through residents’ properties to lakes around Columbia. The more it rains and heavy downpours occur, and we know they will as the pattern hasn’t stopped since May of 2018, the worse the situation(s) get per what I heard from other residents at a Town Hall meeting last week.
