What a shame. I grew up in Pontiac near Baldwin and Walton and it was a great place to grow up. I live in Florida now and it's terrible to see what has happened to Pontiac. I came back to visit this spring for the first since 1992 and was shocked at how bad my old neighborhood has become. It's just sad.

Well, they're moving - right down the street to Walton & Baldwin!

Are these guys "soliciting or peddlers without a license"? I especially hate it when they are wearing a army fatigues. I wonder how many people fall for this stuff. These guys are just plain creepy and need to go to jail!

One of the guys was seen at Walton & Joslyn a few minutes ago. (8-19-2010) 6:45pm, wearing a backpack and holding up a sign.

The one individual was there agian this weekend. Walking up to cars with his sign at night. With all of the crime going on this makes me nervous as he could be mistaken for a car jacker. It would not really break my heart if someone were to take this bum out. Commom Pontiac Police how about some proactive action here.

One guy wears a backpack and army fatigues. His sign says he's an Iraqi war vet. He's been around all summer. Walton & Giddings, Walton & Joslyn, Walton & Baldwin...says he's homeless. I'm not sure why police don't do something about him. I've seen him rake in tons of money...just standing on street corners. Please citizens...stop giving this guy money! He's taking advantage of us and we're supporting it! If he's in that much need, he can get food at the rescue mission down town and they'll also help him get back on his feet if that's what he's really after. STOP SUPPORTING SCAMMERS!

I saw the one guy.....he couldn't have been older than 28 and was carrying a small cardboard sign with a large amount of writing on it. It is very intimidating and he seems very unfriendly and dangerous.

I am less worried about something happening to him, what if he robs someone that takes compassion on him? He needs to be stopped!

I had a fella go as far as tell me some sob story that his family all ignored him after his folks died....had no place to live now lives in Jaycee Park down the road. And the other homeless often steal from him. All he needs is enough money to get to Chicago area where a promised job awaits. He gets you to believe he is wanting to work. Clean cut fella. Same corner...Blah Blah.

This panhandling business sounds like a good job. Where do I sign up?

I was approached by a guy in army fatigues while I was pumping gas at the sunoco on Walton between Joslyn and Baldwin. He said he was hungry and asked if I had any money to spare. Needless to say, I was out of my car....had money in my pocket to pay for gas....am a woman alone.....made me very uncomfortable. Something needs to be done.

Have not seen these people around since the weather has turned cold
