Description

Prob. naive of me to even bring this up, but the state of deterioration of Univ. Ave between West Frontage Road and Marina Blvd. has gotten ridiculous. This stretch of road (Eastbound) was fixed very long ago (80s, iirc) but soon regressed to its former wavy and broken/rough surface. There is quite a lot of daily traffic to/from the Marina, Chavez Park, OCSC Sailing, restaurants, and the DoubleTree hotel, and aside from being a royal p.i.t.a. to negotiate, the road looks like it belongs in an impoverished city in a banana republic. Isn't it time to finally fix this roadway, permanently? Both directions, actually, although Eastbound has always been worse. Presumably the underlying problem (literally) is the fill upon which the road was built, and thus presents an engineering challenge, but perhaps a prof. and few civil engineering students from Cal can be enlisted to come up with an affordable solution. Thank you.
