You think it's bad at the intersection, watch them fly down the road as they are approaching it. It's horrible being a pedestrian on this road especially with no sidewalks. 35MPH is too fast as it is for the street and most people choose to go over that. Ive seen 18 wheelers and large dump trucks use this road all the time ignoring the No Truck signs. Its constantly used as as cut-thru adding to the volume. Now just imagine taking a walk, having to share this street with trucks and commuters driving 35 or more likely in a rush to get to school or work. We had our garbage can taken out by one of these drivers, it had flown several feet into the yard. If that had been a person they likely would not have survived. Its is scary to be walking in that environment.
Some action needs to be taken to turn this back into a residential street. That speed limit and the yellow lines are only signaling to the driver that its ok to drive faster. For being a residential street no different than Bell or Terrace it should be set to 25MPH and free of those lines.

The speed limit and center line removal really needs be discussed as part of the solution.
As per information I have requested in the past regarding traffic along this road;
From the traffic study conducted between 5/9/16-5/16/16
85th Percentile speed was 40 mph both northbound and southbound
Average daily traffic was 2,159 vehicles
From the driver feedback sign which was posted between 3/1/17-3/10/17
85th Percentile speed – 41 mph
Average daily traffic – 1,817 vehicles
From the driver feedback sign which was posted between 7/31/17-8/8/17
85th Percentile speed – 40 mph
Average daily traffic - 1,572 vehicles
Based on those numbers, there are on average ~277 cars a day driving 40MPH or more!
As I also have been informed in the past, due to lack of radar speeding tickets will not be issued until the driver is 11MPH over the limit. That means a driver could potentially drive 46MPH down this road and not be cited! Studies show that the average risk of severe injury for a pedestrian struck by a vehicle reaches... 75% at 39 mph, and 90% at 46 mph.* This poses great risk for pedestrians that walk along this road.
So, as much as enforcement is a major factor in solving these issues is is quite clear that even so with the current practices in place it is not addressing the safety of the street for the residents and pedestrians.

Less than 48 hours ago, an Upper Dublin officer was there for nearly an hour and collected an average speed of 32.4 miles per hour and observed zero violations.
Despite these low numbers, we will continue to conduct random directed patrols on your section of roadway as often as possible, while still attending to the many other locations within the 14.2 square miles of this township that we diligently patrol 24-hours per day, 7 days per week.
Thank you,
Deputy Chief Dan Wade
