Unfortunately the City does not have enough funding to repave all streets in poor condition. With limited funding, our response to resurfacing requests is limited to minor pavement and pothole repairs only. Our Street Maintenance Department will assess your street and determine whether temporary measures might be appropriate. Please understand that this work may be limited to pothole or other minor repairs, and that we have many similar requests. We will do our best to respond in a timely manner. The backlog of streets in Oakland needing pavement currently is $435 million and growing.

  Why is the City still using this same generic robot-response to an important issue you generated new tax revenue for and in conclusion only seem to be able to provide excuses for your failure to perform. The cost per word is not much to improve your public messaging ( and excuse making)

  If I fail to pay taxes you whack us mercilessly? How is that fair? Do you burn the tax money in a secret bonfire? Does all the money go to retirement pension or perhaps meetings to discuss what you will not do and how you will make the excuses.

  Sorry I have become cynical after 18 years here but the pattern of conduct is well established, I have noted the deaths of many people in Oakland due to negligence government duties, (roads, police-speeding enforcement, fire inspections) and the findings are quite clear. Our cars engine mounts are busted from your failures. This is not OK.

  How about the City tell the truth? Crickets is not the correct response given your salary and pension levels. Please knock it off and do the right thing OK!
