We plan on mounting 16 historic and contemporary photographs plus 16 graphic images of cherry trees and the Wooster Square Arch on the walls lining the Chapel Street underpass under I-91. We expect the photos/images to be approximately 8 ft by 8 ft. We will also mount signs above Chapel Street on the I-91 overpass, reading Welcome to Wooster Square and Remembering Wooster Square.

This seems like a really nice way to provide and entrance to Wooster Square. What if it could also be thought of as entrance to the Mill River District and Fair Haven? This could be an opportunity to highlight, connect and partner with the history and aspirations of the neighborhood on the other side of the underpass.

I commend you for your efforts. We had a mural painted on an underpass near me, that has been vandalized on more than one occasion. I hope you can mitigate any destruction of your efforts. I fear angry and discontented individuals will target any efforts of a positive nature . I am sorry I have to even bring up this negative thought. so few people are trying to do things of a positive and civic minded nature today. I do not want to discourage anyone from doing anything of a positive nature

CTDOT will be permitting agency, with a maintenance agreement held by City of New Haven. Will need design to be approved by CTDOT; TT&P/Engineering can provide new LED fixtures for underpass when time is right.
