I take the midhudson bridge home from work. Almost every day drivers that are coming onto rte 9 from rte 55 ignore the yield sign at the bottom of the ramp making for an extremely dangerous merge condition for traffic exiting rte 9 north, onto the bridge. It is a very poorly designed intersection made 1000 time worse by people going right thru the yield sign...I've even seen Dutchess Co Sheriffs do it on more than one occasion. I've heard it argued that if you're not merging onto rte 9 north the sign doesn't apply to you? I don't understand this logic....a yield sign is a yield sign it isn't for just some vehicles. The exact same condition applies for the intersection coming off the bridge (eastbound) turning onto rte 9... Where are the police?

Part of the problem could be that drivers heading north or south on route 9 insist on speeding in the left hand lane, which makes it more difficult for those trying to merge onto 9 safetly. If those drivers would stay in the right lane past the route 55 interchange, traffic would transition more efficiently. Don't be in such a hurry!

The problem is driver's ignoring the yield sign plain and simple. If I'm in the left lane with my left turn signal on and slowing down which is necessary in order to exit then I shouldn't have to dodge drivers that are ignoring the sign - as my complaint read. What you are suggesting is true but a different problem altogether. Another problem which compounds this interchange is drivers who exit without signals but again this is a different problem altogether.

Last time I checked, the presence, absence or ignorance of traffic control signs was a violation committed by the driver, not a condition of the road surface.

While it's bad enough that the PoJo posted a tool where there's no follow up by local DOT's, why and insult to injury by posting inappropriate content?

I also travel this every day from Highland going to Marist. I would like to know why the City Police are NEVER at or near this cloverleaf? the amount of ticket revenue would be huge. MOST people coming off of the arterial do ignore the signs and many many folks insist on crossing two lanes of traffic to get to that first exit (Southbound coming off the bridge exit),how stupid to endanger others.
