There is a pedestrian crossing at this intersection at 4th and D street SW, but cars often speed through it - possibly because it erroneously can appear that this is the pedestrian crossing for the crossing one block up at Virginia and 4th street that has a crossing connected to the traffic lights but not painted on the street.
