Engineering staff has reviewed this location. We believe this location is rather typical for similar roadway facilities in which we allow on-street parking. An exception to this is the fire hydrant on the north side of the King County Library driveway. Per RCW 46.61.570, parking is not allowed within fifteen feet of the fire hydrant. This essentially restricts on-street parking near the north side driveway. This same RCW also restricts parking in front of a public or private driveway or within five feet of the end of the curb radius leading thereto.

We have also reviewed our collision data and it does not identify this location as a problem area. We have consulted our police department and it sounds like violations have been minimal as well.

As with most on-street parking, make sure you can clearly see crossing traffic before entering an intersection. The Washington State Driver's Guide recommends that "if you were stopped and your view of a cross street is blocked, edge forward slowly until you can see. By moving forward slowly, crossing drivers can see the front of your vehicle before you can see them. This gives them a chance to slow down and warn you if needed."

We will continue to monitor this location and make turn restrictions if it becomes necessary.
