Traffic from 49 is using the Home Depot shopping center as a detour to get to US 29. This traffic is causing the stoplight at University Pointe Dr and Tryon to cycle frequently, and it is backing up traffic on Tryon during morning rush. The city needs to either give a lower priority to the shopping center traffic so it doesn't trip the signal so often or work with the shopping center to prohibit left turns out of the shopping center during construction so drivers will use the correct detour.
