Description
The dumpsters in the public parking lot behind 10 Roswell St (also near La Casa restaurant) are almost always overflowing, and without gates. That parking lot is very unsightly. In warmer weather it is smelly. Since this is public parking, and because some events are held there, this area needs to be better managed. Thanks.

We agree that the current situation is not desirable nor one that meets our standards.
The City currently has under design a new centralized waste facility in that area to address the need for increased capacity. As planned, the facility will include a large compactor and a deodorizing sprayer system.
Unfortunately, addressing the issue is not simply a matter of adding a dumpster. Environmental regulations require supporting infrastructure including in-ground drainage, so the matter cannot be handled with a quick fix.
Due to the demand being placed upon the existing dumpsters, they are serviced daily with the exception of Sundays (the service providers do not operate on Sundays). Additionally, we contract with a vendor who collects waste from around the dumpster area, etc. They service the area weekly and also when we call to request additional service. The cost for all of those services are charged back to the businesses that utilize the dumpsters. Finally, when we are able to identify from where garbage bags not placed in the dumpsters originated, we have required that business to cleanup the area.
