Thank you for your inquiry and the opportunity to respond. I apologize for the delay in responding, but our Public Services team was investigating this area and verifying if this piece of sidewalk was on a list for repair. We looked at this sidewalk and this piece is what we refer to as a sidewalk lead; which is the 4 by 4 foot panel, which connects the back of curb with the sidewalk parallel to the street. If this part of the sidewalk needs to be repaired, the city may put the project into a Sidewalk Repair Program which would be funded out of a bond program.
For the current 2010 Bond Program, the City identified sidewalk replacement areas that needed to be addressed. In order for a sidewalk replacement project to be selected, a ranking is assigned based on the severity of failed concrete and the vertical separation of the concrete panel pints. Unfortunately, other sidewalk areas in the City were ranked higher in the 2010 Bond Program.
If the sidewalk lead is not a part of the Sidewalk Repair Program through a city bond, the repair becomes the responsibility of the homeowner.
For future reference, you may submit your question or concern directly to our city website which will route your concern to the appropriate department. You may visit the city website at http://www.cor.net/index.aspx?page=1162.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
