Any chance I can get reimbursed the $500 it's costing for a new tire?

This area is REALLY, REALLY bad, and should be attended to AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Please report it to 1) Caltrans, 2) California Highway Patrol, AND the 3) Menlo Park Police Department immediately. Nearby areas have had an asphalt patch before. Anyone on a bike is likely to get thrown off their bike. More tires and cars are also likely to get damaged.

It appears Caltrans (or perhaps the City) did a "band-aid" temporary repair, then removed the helpful orange colored safety cones. Unfortunately, the asphalt either strunk or they ran out of material and didn't use enough. The SAFETY HAZARD remains, potentially resulting in great harm, injury or death to someone not expecting the concrete to be heaved up. Can the old concrete be removed and new concrete at grade level be installed? That would be helpful. Thank you.

I suspect the City's liability does NOT end in passing this "hot potato" to others. Once someone dies or is injured, EVERYONE gets sued. Given this hazard is within the City Limits, can the City do more? Perhaps you feel your risk is increased by getting involved; however, the real loser becomes the public. Is this a Catch 22 issue? What else can be done? If the answer is NOTHING, then this is a sad day for government.

This problem is in a heavy-traffic zone. Please do not let this request get side-lined or delayed.

It is utterly ridiculous that this has NOT been fixed !!!!!!!!!!

At a minimum, there should be either an Orange Cone, or Yellow Tape, or White paint - but to do nothing is embarrassing and irresponsible.

No one actually does anything. This reporting tool is a joke.

I wonder if Caltrans was notified. It is dangerous and looks awful indeed.

As I understand it everything having to do with a state highway, in this case Hwy 82 (El Camino Real passing through our part of the Peninsula) can ONLY be addressed by CalTrans. The City of MP has zero jurisdiction on such matters. Pavement, signals, signage, medians along that road, while certainly within the city limits, are actually off limits to city staff as far as maintenance.

I've used that maintenance reporting site for ECR/Hwy82, I-280 and Hwy 101 issues. It does work. Speed varies.
