Let's get cameras and start catching these criminals in the act...send them a ticket in the mail....this has worked in some cities in upstate NY...it completely eradicated their littering issues...send $250-$500 tickets in the mail word will get around quick

Id rather see litterbugs get sentenced to community service and have to pick up their trash and everyone else's litter as well. Forget fines, thats just money. They can borrow or even steal that. Force them to get their fingers dirty and maybe they will think twice before tossing that drive-thru bag out the window!

Most habitual litterers have either been prisoners or have done forced community service ...prisoners love getting outdoors and probation folks love paying their fines with a little litter pickup....its almost a reward for their dirty deeds....regardless of the punishment, HOW DO WE CATCH THEM?...mobile cameras set up around the county. Move them from hotspot to hotspot ...hit them where it hurts! Pocketbooks

The roadside litter situation is a problem within the entire county and, yes, it is deliberate and intentionally thrown out by uncaring citizens and bypassers with little respect for the aesthetics of the community. Of all the roads listed the only ones that have not been serviced within the last 30 days is "Foster and Oak Grove Rd. All others are either maintained by the respective City or GDOT State road crews. I have submitted work orders to have Foster and Oak Grove Rd. scheduled for a litter pickup.

Thanks for the hard work CSA..buying cameras and enforcing litter laws is the only way to save this county from being a landfill....the money that would cost is a drop in the bucket compared to loss in home values and decreased tax revenues...also it would show we are serious about crime and may deter more serious offenses...please help us get cameras and start catching offenders. Jajo70 I think the problem with cameras would then be that dumpers and habitual offenders would avoid camera areas, but it won't stop them from dumping. I have cameras on my property to catch trespassers and dumpers but it does not stop them. They get sneaky and they get crafty but it does not stop them. They do things like rent a U-haul van and cover the license plate and truck ID with duct tape. They dress in such a way that their face is obscured. This makes it extremely difficult for officials who are trying to help to track them down.
In the case of dumpers, who aren't just tossing out their fast-food bags or empty pack of smokes but tossing things like furniture, tires or construction debris is that there is just nowhere in the County for them to legally turn in this refuse. They have to go outside of the County to do it and by then it's more convenient to just leave it in the woods, or drop it off along the roadside. Sure it's illegal but their attitude is that it's only illegal if they get caught and that is the problem. It's a fine day in Henry County if one of them ever gets caught.
A long-term solution would be for the County to open a Waste Transfer site for things that County DOT is already having to collect at random roadside areas. But until the County does something like this, the dumping and the littering shall continue.

JasonT...Yorktown Ny was the first municipality in the country to allow citizens recordings and installed their own cameras and actually enforced the litter laws...they put signs up all over town warning of surveillance of litterbugs....it completely ERADICATED their littering problem...ERADICATED...with todays technology it shouldnt be that difficult to catch these low iq slugs and change the behavior of habitual litterers...the only problem i see is there are people making money on littering...DOT have multi million dollar contracts for picking up trash along highways and im sure that filters down to counties and municipalities...follow the trash and you will find the money..

Foster and Oak Grove Rds were cleaned up on 1/23 and 1/28. All other county roads in this request were serviced within the last 30 days.
