Description
Hi there, we have an issue with the sidewalk outside our building. It is very uneven and there is a large dip. Passersby frequently trip up, and when it rains, water accumulates; in the winter it turns to ice. We believe the issue is caused by the adjacent tree root, pushing against the sidewalk over several years. I'm not sure if this is something that is the city or the residents' responsibility to fix. Our building is listed, which may also mean we need a permit before any work can be done? Can you please help? I can send a photo if required (I'm not at my address right now).

If it is, indeed, the root causing the sidewalk to lift, the concrete would have to be removed by the homeowner so that we could perform a root shave.

The homeowner will have to have the sidewalk removed so we can inspect and confirm that it is indeed tree roots causing this issue. If so, we would address while on site.
