Thank you for your report. Inspectors inspected the area over the weekend and observed the water. The main and the services were checked and a water sample was retrieved. The sample was analyzed and it was negative for fluoride and chlorine therefore, groundwater.

When the roadway was repaved several years ago, that storm drain wasn't 'recessed' enough to have the water on the curb flow in to it... as the ice 'dams up' around the drain, it diverts across the roadway - through the intersection. Regardless of whether it is groundwater or or not, the ice creates a hazardous condition that COULD result in a car in the ravine as they negotiate the 'curve' at the foot of Ramblewood Road.

thanks for the follow-up, though! We've got springs all over ValleyMede that are evidently 'maxed' out causing standing ICE build up on Paulskirk near Ramblewood, Michael's near Longview, Joey near Michael's (as it terminates near the drainage ravine) etc.

We are sending a salt truck to this location.

We have salted this issue.

This area will need to be salted EVERYDAY that it's not above freezing until the drainage 'issue' (not sure why the water doesn't go IN the storm drain) is corrected. Perhaps it's b/c the storm drain itself is higher than the roadway itself, maybe....

Investigated this issue and found out that the inlet boxes are on grade.However the inlet boxes on the corner of Ramblewood and Chatham Rd do need some repairs.

Jim B. On site 1/18/2020 no signs of a drainage issue. The is a white pvc pipe coming from address 3109 that appears it may direct private water to the County roadway. Temp. Is 28 degrees at 9:29am. The picture shows the white pvc bottom right and note the drain at the end. If water does discharge through here, it could freeze during times, which would account for the picture the resident sent in.

There is a white pvc that discharges along the roadway, which is against County code. D. Smith will look into the issue with the owner of the white pvc. No other maintenanace work to be performed. Jim B. 1/21/2020
