I have reported this issue several times as have my neighbors. The water began to drain in early December and has not stopped. We have been told the source is ground water and nothing can be done except salt the area which was done shortly before the last big snowfall. The problem is that the water crossing the entrance to Tamar washes the salt down the gutter and continues to flow or freeze according to the temperature. The ice is a danger for vehicles and pedestrians because it flows across the crosswalk.
The area where the water emerges is where a BGE contractor dug a deep trench to install a new electric cable for Campfire. I have lived at this intersection for over 40 years and there was never a ground water issue before even during rainy years. Calls to BGE have been useless.
The water is a safety issue and needs to somehow be diverted to a storm drain etc.

Inspectors inspected the area last week and observed the water. The mains were checked and a water sample was retrieved. The sample was analyzed and it was negative for fluoride and chlorine therefore, groundwater.
We have been out to check this area several times. Our staff is aware of this groundwater issue and we have put this section of roadway on our list to be treated when the temperatures are below freezing.
We know this is not treated water but whatever the source the water is flowing freely across Campfire and freezes when the temperature drops. The flow washes away whatever salt is used. There must be a solution to this dangerous situation. The ice/water is across the crosswalk Passing this issue from department to department is not solving the problem. Thanks
Thank you. Anything you can do to help us appreciated. The sidewalk and spot where the water is emerging is on the county right of way where a BGE cable was installed in 2018. The contractor dig deep trenches all along the sidewalk on the side toward 6106 Tamar. There was no water issue before the trenches.
This section of roadway is on our list to be treated with salt when the temperatures are below freezing. Thank you for contacting the Howard County DPW Bureau of Highways. This issue is now closed in Tell HoCo. If you require more information, please contact Department of Public Works Highways office 410-313-7450.
The water flows across Campfire and down the gutter in front of my home at 6120 Tamar. The salt is only on Campfire and the water in the gutter freezes across the end of my driveway. Today it is at least three feet wide which makes it impossible for anyone to safely walk across the end of the drive to get to a car parked on the street or to go to the mailbox across Tamar. Please salt the gutter as well as the flow across Campfire
