Wow....censorship.
Dee the issue isn't about OTHER cities, it's about this one and there's no reason to live like an animal, with FECES, TRASH & DRUGS making Vallejo look like a stye.

I have many ideas how to end homelessness and help the homeless. I believe it is a shame that so many are homeless in this country.
I think s a society we need to brainstorm ideas and solutions for homelessness. The main problem is the government doesn’t listen nd is either complacent or unwilling to fund common sense solutions to help get people out of homelessness. Another BIG problem is that there are some making a living or even getting rich off the backs of the homeless(they don’t want to end homelessness because their jobs/ income steams would cease to exist.

What we need to do is for the city to set aside a couple acres of space away from parks, schools, etc.
-Build privacy fencing around the perimeter
-Provide porta potties
-Provide a dumpster and trash cans
-Provide outdoor showering area
(This would be a place with minimal intrusion, dogs would be allowed.
However, some basic common decency rules would apply such as
-keeping area clean and orderly(not hard with dumpsters on site)
-No violence
-no hard drugs(moderate alcohol ok)
There would be someone would would either check in on the camp daily or live onsite to oversee things.
I think this is a common sense solution to consolidate encampments from the street or from private property while providing a few basic human services.
I don’t know why Anyone who would be against this idea, it would cost Less the tax payers way less to provide these services than what is spent on cleanup, emergency room bills, etc.
This would provide a better quality of life for the homeless and the community as a whole.

It falls on the Community and it’s willpower and resources to solve the “homeless” issue. (“Homeless” because it’s only a part of the larger issue of inequality) Vallejo has neither the willpower or type of community spirit to fully engage in this issue. Some folks are working hard, but untill opportunities really exist, we are going to see it get worse before it gets better. Vallejo needs financial solvency and a realistic vision.
You question how these people get there? While federal workers are standing in food bank lines? If these people can’t have back up savings for one month, what does that say about the state of our country? Those people should have a sufficient salary that they shouldn’t be living paycheck to paycheck. Or some may be living above their means?
However, I digress, signing off.
