Description

We have been trying to work with our HOA at Bermuda Bay Condominiums and property management company Resource Property Management to make sure our condo is safe and up to code. Our efforts to bring attention to these safety violations have been ignored by both our HOA and our Property Management Company. We do not feel safe in our home, and worry for the safety of renters occupying our property when we are not home, as well as our neighbors.

When we brought the property a year and a half ago, our code inspection report indicated that the attic firewalls in our building (and the rest of our community) are destroyed. They are broken down by the inspectors because there is only one access point into the attic. However since proper fire doors have never been installed, the inspectors just break down the wall to be able to look through the property. If a fire were to break out, it would spread through the attic at an alarming rate.

Also, the main water valves on many of the buildings in our community are old and on the verge of breaking. We have been trying to get our community to replace them, to no avail. We have been remodeling our home and have needed to shut off the water to work on the bathrooms. When doing this, the valves broke and flooded our neighbors downstairs. Since this is walls in, it's our responsibility to replace it. We have been trying to get the HOA to shut off water to the building so that we can make appropriate repairs and not risk any more damage to our unit or our neighbors. Our request are being ignored. With the current condition of the valves, they could pop any moment. This would obviously lead to more repairs, as well as health hazards such as mold growth.

We are at a loss of who to contact to get these companies to do their job and protect the safety of ourselves, our neighbors, and our homes.
