You would think they would know better than to do this at 8AM during rush hour! This is just plain stupidity.

And the sidewalk is impassable again today at lunch hour because of construction materials.

I think that it is dangerous that they have no tape up on the sidewalk portion to keep people from walking along the sidewalk and under a crane in a construction zone!

Ditto to William's comment, the picture shows 2 guys in hardhats, yet the sidewalk is not being taped off while construction work is going on overhead?

Thanks. This is being referred to both, City of Raleigh Police Department and Inspections, as well. When they have responded an update will be posted.

Public Works has responded. Staff went out to the site just now to check on the situation. There were no issues that we could see associated with either development at the intersection of Clark Avenue and Oberlin Road. The sidewalks on both Oberlin Road and Clark Avenue are closed on the northwest quadrant of the intersection; the sidewalk along Clark Avenue from Oberlin Road to Daniels Street is also closed and should be closed to pedestrian traffic. All sidewalk closures in these areas have appropriate signage and have been permitted as sidewalk closures. There should be no pedestrians using these areas during construction as these sidewalk closures were put in place because of the need to construction staging. City of Raleigh, I think your response is supposed to be for an issue at Cameron Village. I'm reopening this since the response has nothing to do with this location or the nature of the concern.

Closing this issue was most likely intentional, not just an accident. I bet if you look into it, somebody with the City of Raleigh has something to gain with this development project. Cronyism!

Sorry for any confusion with the issue being closed above. An officer spoke with the site superintendent yesterday who stated this was a one-time occurrence and it will not happen again. As of today there are no obstructions in the roadway and traffic is flowing freely.
