Turning it into a 4 way stop would also resolve the issue, as there's frequent speeding up/down the hill on 42nd ave S anyways.

It’s not illegal parking because there is not a no parking sign. The issue is that you can not see oncoming traffic. There should be a no parking sign there or there should be a four way stop put in. Sorry for the confusion. Thank you

Car are always parked both north and south of this intersection on 42nd. We live just north and we can not even park in front of our house because of overflow from the birch Crest apartments. There have been multiple accidents at this corner and we have had to fix our fence and replace our bushes multiple times due to people hitting it. My husband had talked to Robin tishmock from public works many times regarding this. Robin is no longer w the city but did nothing about the issue during the years he was there.

This post is not about 1 car parking there, but ANY vehicle parking there. That parking spot blocks west bound traffic from s 140th from onto 42nd Ave. Have seen too many people almost get hit at that spot, myself among them because you can't see around the last parking spot on the SE corner of 42nd Ave, the parking needs to be set back another car length.

Vehicle at location this morning. The vehicle is legally parked in the widened part of the roadway (turnout). HOWEVER. When driving west on South 140th Street and stopping at the posted stop sign at the 42nd Avenue Intersection, the white SUV is blocking line of sight of northbound traffic and creating a collision hazard by doing this. Request forwarded for recommended signing of that area to allow PD to keep it clear for line of sight.

I agree with the safety concerns about this particular intersection. We drive through this intersection almost daily heading both westbound and eastbound on 140th, and the line of sight is terrible looking both north and south and incredibly dangerous. It is a "check 3 times each direction, hold your breath, and accelerate as quickly as possible" scenario, and hope that there isn't a car coming from 42nd that you can't see.

I do not think that a 4-way stop is the solution here, as during certain times of the day (especially school start/end and bus pickup and dropoff), it would cause the span from 144th to 140th on 42nd Ave S to become incredibly congested (it's bad enough as is). Perhaps signs could be posted in all directions from this intersection outlawing parking within a certain distance from the corners.

The visibility on this intersection is horrible. Too many times has there been close calls dues poor visibility and people driving too fast. I live on 43rd and turn right onto 42nd from 140th every morning it's an issue.

The speed limit has NEVER BEEN ENFORCED on this section of 42nd Ave. So.! Heading East on So. 140th Street it IS DIFFICULT to get a decent view of what is coming up the hill at you. My solution has been to use So 139th Street to approach 42nd Ave. instead. Over the years I have seen a disproportionate number of pets killed on the part of 42nd Ave. North of So. 140th Street. It is where the road starts to slope and people seem to feel a need to pour on the speed at this point! Maybe SOMEDAY EVEN A SLIGHT EFFORT will be made to enforce the speed limit here. When I need to cross the road, I RUN, as I know how fast people drive just right here!

Why has this been open since February with no action ???.....come on public works !!!!!! I hear screeching tires every day from near misses at this corner !

Just drove through this intersection today (heading west on 140th and turning R onto 42nd), and was nearly hit by a car heading N on 42nd because I could not see oncoming traffic and they could not see me. Slammed on my brakes and the car had to go around me because I was already in the intersection.

Tukwila REALLY needs to do something about this intersection. It is incredibly unsafe.

Can you provide an updated status on this issue? I've seen this intersection mentioned in no less than 10 independent posts/ issues (some speeding/traffic and some parking) in the last few months; this issue was tagged as "under review" 3.5 months ago (and opened 8 months ago).

So here we go again at this corner ...today someone came around the corner and hit the speed limit sign and drove thru our plant

I was told by a council member to write my concerns on the city's " traffic calming" site.which I did. Despite all the complaints nothing gets done....they even quit acknowledging the comments here.

So tonight was yet another accident at the corner of 42nd and S 140th. Are these comments going to a dead letter box ???? What does it take to get something done .???? Maybe I'll just have to talk to the mayor directly....

A "No parking"Zone will be established on the south side of the intersection to prohibit parking in that area.
