Description

There is a serious issue with the drivers in this area -- they drive too fast, don't wait for pedestrians to exit the crosswalk, many don't even stop at the crosswalk. Their speeds are in excess of 35 mph, and they do not come to a "full and complete stop" when turning off Canary Dr. to Inverness.

PEDESTRIANS ARE UNSAFE CROSSING TO/FROM ORTEGA PARK AND STOCKLMEIR SCHOOL.

This intersection is very unsafe for the following reasons:

a. No crossing guard;
b. No stop sign on Inverness at Canary;
c. Broken crossing sign at crosswalk there;
d. High speed of drivers and disregard for pedestrians;
e. Intersection is blind when driving north on Canary and looking to the right -- the house on the corner has a hedge of bushes that make it difficult/impossible to see down Inverness to see on coming traffic.

LOCAL RESIDENTS REQUEST MAJOR CROSSING IMPROVEMENTS AT THIS INTERSECTION

For the safety of everyone, please make every improvement to this intersection and crossing.

We don't want to see reports on the evening news about someone getting killed here--this is dangerous and needs the immediate attention of the city public works AND police dept (write speeding tix, and enforce the California Vehicle Code violations at this location).

SAFETY FIRST!
