I would like to echo the concerns of my neighbors concerning the safety of the intersection at Twin Rivers Rd and Broken Land parkway.

I cannot recall the countless times I have nearly been hit by folks running the stop signs or not coming to a complete stop at this intersection, POLICE OFFICERS INCLUDED. No one seems to understand how to operate the four way stop, and even fewer people stop at this intersection. It is extremely dangerous, and as a resident of a nearby apartment building, I have to use this intersection every day or take a much, much less convenient route. Depending on the traffic and time of day, I end up taking the alternate route out of fear of being hit at the intersection.

I sent a letter to the County Representative about this intersection but focused at rush hour and the issue with having a 4 way stop at an intersection with 2 sometimes 3 lanes with cars arriving at different times and turning or going straight etc. It's made worse when traffic on outbound Twin Rivers is stopped by the light at Gov Warfield and backs into teh intersection and keeps people at teh stop signs from doing anything, which then frustrates other drivers.

Agree as well, and I've reported this intersection already in the past. There was an accident yesterday resulting in an SUV flipped upside down. Thankfully the occupant got out seemingly unhurt, but its only a matter of time until a pedestrian is hit instead. This is not an intersection that can be assessed simply with objective traffic count numbers. Such counts are supposed to be used to help inform the final decision, and Howard County needs to accept the reality that this is a dangerous intersection, regardless of whether or not it meets the traffic threshold to warrant a light.

Aside from the 5+ auto accidents I've personally seen (I know that there have been many more), the stop signs are frequently run at high speed. I've witnessed several pedestrians including school aged kids nearly hit by cars not stopping fully, not being able to see due to other cars in adjacent lanes and cars flat out running the stop sign. Someone will die at this intersection. It needs immediate attention.

I'm new to town and have a school child that walks to school. I've seen on a daily basis the stop sign run by many motorist. I've been cutoff by drivers running the stop sign. Howard County, please do something before its too late.

Thank you for your enquiries. A traffic signal is anticipated to go in at the subject location this year. The County will issue a press release with more information about the schedule for the implementation of the signal as soon as possible.
