  I would prefer a roundabout, traffic lights are slowing our city to a grinding stop, affecting businesses' overhead and people's family time, especially in winter months. Additionally, there is no evidence that traffic lights are safer. People text at them and simply go forward when it turns green without even looking right or left for red-light runners, detaching people from looking out for their own safety and instead relying on a machine to tell them what to do. That said, the safety concerns are real, as stated by original poster.
