Description
he intersection of Catherine and Ingalls is one of the more terrifying ones, particularly for bikers. Its where Catherine goes up a sharp hill and suddenly flattens out and blows through Ingalls. Traffic on Ingalls has a stop sign, traffic coming up Catherine does not. I live on E. Kingsley so I go through this intersection at least once every single day and its been a harrowing experience more than a handful of times. The issue is that the steep hill precludes drivers and bikers from seeing each other. When traveling north on Ingalls, its a challenge to see down the street from a vehicle but impossible on a bike. It's always a scary intersection with cars flying up the hill and not being certain a smaller one isn't just below the crest of the hill.
This entire problem could be solved by implementing a four-way stop (or rather a two way stop because its two one-ways). Putting a stop sign on Catherine would make the intersection infinitely safer and would slow traffic as it enters a neighborhood dense with pedestrians (most of whom are students who can be less than aware and attentive).
